Research Services

Enquiries are made via the Archives "Contact Us" page on this web site.  

Currently all enquires are suspended from the 1st October 2022 to 1st April 2023 due to the re-location of the Archive.

Enquirers can expect -

• A response within 21 days
• Staff can only carry out research of up to 30 minutes, if longer more detailed research is required, you will be advised of the access facilities available to allow you to conduct your own research in person.  If you need someone to carry out personal research, you can find a qualified Genealogist at the "Register of Qualified Genealogists" or "Association of Genealogists & Researchers in Archives"
• A request can be made to come and view documents by visiting the Archive or to order digital copies (subject to the condition of the material)

Volunteering

We can provide the opportunity for people to gain experience of working in an archive either on a regular basis or as a work experience placement.

Reproduction

The Archive can carry out some reprographic work on behalf of researchers for a charge.

A4 images are reproduced at 300ppi in colour at a cost £1.00, as either a jpeg or pdf. These are supplied strictly for personal or research purposes only.   If you would like to publish any items held in the Archive, Permission to Publish must be sought from the Archivist. These images can be provided at a higher resolution in jpeg or tiff formats
